Soccer's Lucas Gimenez is the winner of this year's Male Hornet Award…nominated by coaches, the honor is awarded to one male and female student-athlete that best exemplify the spirit of a Hornet with their sportsmanship, community service and intangibles that make them a great teammate…marks the second time in three years Gimenez has earned the award.

Lucas Gimenez, Senior, Men's Soccer
• Completed his fourth and final season with the men's soccer team
• Served as Vice President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
• Graduated last month with a 3.350 GPA as a kinesiology major
• Four-time member of the Sacramento State Dean's Honors List
• Participates in Read Across America
• Has volunteered his time at the UC Davis Children's Hospital
• Helped support and promote the NMDP (formerly Be The Match) "Get in the Game" initiative, contributing to 366 student registrations - second highest registration total in the nation
• Co-founder of LG Athletic Performance LLC, helping young athletes improve performance, confidence, and overall development
• Three-time Big West Conference all-academic selection
• Defender who played 16 games last season, and totaled over 900 minutes
• A key member of the Hornets' back line who played in 49 career matches
