TENNIS RECIPIENT OF SACRAMENTO STATE’S FEMALE TEAM PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR

Tennis has been awarded Sacramento State's Female Team Performance of the Year…for the third straight season, Sacramento State won the Big Sky Tournament title, defeating Idaho, 4-1, in the semifinals, and besting Northern Arizona, 4-1, in the championship match…in the championship, the Hornets started things by claiming the doubles point…in singles, Palina Saulevich and Emilija Pranyte won in straight sets to put the Hornets on the brink, before tournament MVP Reese Walker won in three sets at No. 1 to clinch.

Golf - The Hornets started the season with a four-stroke win to claim the team title at the Branch Law Firm/Dick Maguire Invitational in New Mexico…the team was led by senior Ella Kraft who shot 70-69-72-211 to win the tournament by three strokes…the Hornets topped a field which included three teams who later advanced to NCAA Regionals…the Hornets held a lead following each round…the team finished with a three-round total of 281-294-292-867.

Gymnastics - Sacramento State registered its highest finish at the MPSF Championship in a decade as the team finished in second place…the Hornets were led by a win from Kaitlyn Driessen and tie for third from Athena Jones on beam as well as fifth place finishes from McKenna Carnesi and Jillianne Lastra on bars, and Kara Houghton on floor…the total score of 193.400 was the highest for the Hornets at the MPSF Championship since 2017.

Soccer - Five different Hornets scored goals and 12 different players notched at least one point, while the defense limited Eastern Washington to just three shots on goal as Sacramento State defeated Eastern Washington, 5-0…the five goals were a season high and the most since 2017, while the five second-half goals were the most since they finished with five in the second half of a 2017 win against Idaho State.

Volleyball - The Hornets hosted the Central Cal Challenge, and went 3-0 at the three-day tournament with convincing wins over CSU Bakersfield (3-0), Pacific (3-0) and Fresno State (3-1)…the Hornets dropped just one set at the tournament while combining to outscore the three opponents by 56 points…Ashlynn Archer was named the tournament MVP, while Kate Doorn and Victoria Marthaler were also named all-tournament.
