BASEBALL’S RYAN ELLIS IS RECIPIENT OF SACRAMENTO STATE’S MALE INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR

Baseball's Ryan Ellis is recipient of Sacramento State's Male Individual Performance of the Year…a Western Athletic Conference all-tournament selection after batting .632 (12-for-19) with nine runs, eight doubles, a triple, home run, eight RBIs and 1.316 slugging percentage during the postseason tournament…set the Hornet conference tournament records in runs, batting average and doubles, while tying the mark for hits in a game (4-for-4 in the championship game against Tarleton State)…tied a school single-game record with three doubles twice in the tournament against Abilene Christian and California Baptist.

Jai Bahl (Golf)
- Behind an eagle and nine birdies, Bahl shot an 11-under par 61 during the second round of the Big Sky Championship…the score set the school and Big Sky Championship single-round records, and also tied the course record…Bahl had three birdies over the first five holes and made the turn at 7-under with the help of an eagle on No. 8…after one birdie and five pars to start the back nine, Bahl ended the round with three consecutive birdies…the previous school record of 62 had stood since 2005.

Prophet Johnson (Basketball) - Named College Insider National Player of the Week on Feb. 2 after leading the Hornets to a pair of home victories over Montana State and Montana…over those two wins, he averaged 26.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 3.5 steals and 37.2 minutes per game while shooting 61% (22-36) from the field and 70% (7-10) from the 3-point line…that included 27 points vs. Montana State, and two days later, 26 points vs. Montana.

Gabriel Smith (Golf) - Smith won the individual title at the Big Sky Championship after shooting 68-68-71-207 to finish at 9-under par…Smith birdied the 18th hole to force a playoff and won the tournament with a birdie on the first playoff hole…he became the fourth Hornet to win the individual title at the Big Sky Men's Golf Championship…his 54-hole total of 207 was his best mark of the season…ended his career ranked 13th in school history with a scoring average of 73.80.

Carson Timothy (Baseball) - There aren't many pitchers who can boast that they've defeated both the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the nation in the same season, but Timothy is now among that group…he held top-ranked UCLA to just three runs and six hits over five innings while striking out five as the Hornets beat the Bruins…earlier in the year, Timothy helped the Hornets take the series against second-ranked LSU, going 6.2 innings and allowing just one unearned run, five hits and striking out four in a 6-1 victory.

4x400 Track & Field Relay team - The 4x400 relay team took down one of the longest standing records in school history as the combo of Curtis Reagor, Nathan Rider, Ife Orekoya and Tim Edwards, Jr. ran 3:09.04 at the Jim Bush Legends Meet at UCLA…that time bettered the previous record of 3:09.51 which was set in 1986 and stood for 40 years…three weeks after setting the record, Reagor, Rider, Orekoya and Logan Borg bettered the mark with a 3:08.62 at the Mt. SAC Relays.
