TRACK & FIELD’S MILES GRANT NAMED THE MALE HORNET AWARD WINNER

Track & Field's Miles Grant is the winner of this year's Male Hornet Award…nominated by coaches, the honor is awarded to one male and female student-athlete that best exemplify the spirit of a Hornet with their sportsmanship, community service and intangibles that make them a great teammate.

Miles Grant, Track & Field
• Completed his fourth season with the track & field team
• Served as Vice President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
• Team captain as a senior
• Distributes leftover food from various events to the homeless
• Volunteered multiple times for the Read Across America Program at elementary schools
• Participated, and aided, in the breast cancer awareness walk in the fall
• Participated in the suicide prevention walk in the spring
• An art major, Grant graduated last month Magna Cum Laude with a 3.87 GPA
• Named to the Dean's Honor List all eight semesters at Sacramento State
• An eight-time Big Sky Conference all-academic selection between indoor and outdoor seasons
• Became the school's first Div. I All-American in the men's high jump after qualifying for the NCAA Div. I Outdoor Championship
• Finished in a tie for first place at the NCAA West First Round after clearing a career-best 7-01.50
• That height is tied for third in school history, trailing only marks from 1979 and 1980
• Cleared at least 6-11 in five outdoor meets
• Opened the year by setting his indoor PR with 7-02.50 to rank second in school history
• Won both the Big Sky indoor and outdoor titles two straight years in the high jump (2024, 2025)
