SOCCER’S SEAN BATTISTESSA NAMED SACRAMENTO STATE MALE FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR

Soccer's Sean Battistessa has been named Sacramento State's Male Freshman of the Year…named to the Big West Conference All-Freshman Team…Big West Conference Freshman of the Week (Sept. 30)…member of the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week (Oct. 22)…started 12 of his 18 appearances…ranked second on the team in scoring with five goals and 11 points…the goal and point totals were the most by a Hornet freshman since 2018 when Benji Kikanovic finished with five goals and four assists (14 points).

Carson Conklin (Football) -
Finished third in the Jerry Rice Award and earned freshman All-America honors from FCS Central and Stats Perform…set school records by a freshman with 2,876 passing yards and 28 passing TDs…touchdown total ranks second in school single-season history regardless of class while his yardage total and completions (261) are fourth… finished the year with a .623 completion percentage (261-for-419) which placed him sixth in program single-season history.

Martin Duris (Tennis) - Honorable mention all-Big Sky Conference selection as a true freshman…played at Nos. 4 and 5 in the singles lineup all season…finished with a 13-6 dual singles record, including 2-1 at No. 4, and 11-5 at No. 5…won seven straight singles matches between March 5-22…won nine of his final 11 singles matches of the season…eight straight-set singles victories…posted seven doubles wins, including a 6-5 record at No. 3…won four of his final six doubles matches of the season.

Eli Kaltreider (Track & Field) - Earned first team all-Big Sky Conference honors after placing third in the high jump at the Big Sky Indoor Championships…ranks eighth in school history with an indoor best of 6-08.75…placed sixth at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships in the event to score points for the team…set his outdoor season best with a clearance at 6-08.75…finished in first place in the triple jump at the Causeway Classic Dual meet in his first collegiate appearance in the event.

Michael Perazzo (Baseball) - Named to the Watch List for the 2025 Brooks Wallace Award, given to the nation's top shortstop…one of 11 true or redshirt freshmen named to the list…set the school single-season record for sacrifices with 15…finished the year ranked fourth on the team with a .308 average in 57 games (51 starts), scoring 24 runs, adding eight doubles, a pair of home runs and 28 RBIs…hit .321 in conference play to rank third among regulars.

Max Thomas (Golf) - Played in all 11 tournaments during the season and averaged 73.00 strokes per round in 33 rounds…scoring average ranks 15th in school single-season history…had 12 rounds of par or better during the season…ended the year with a scoring average of +1.61 strokes per round…lowest round of the season was 66 in the opening round of the Palouse Collegiate — his first collegiate event…shot 66-71-72-209 at the tournament for his lowest 54-hole total.
