Golf's
Sneha Sharan is the winner of this year's Female Hornet Award…nominated by coaches, the honor is awarded to one female and male student-athlete that best exemplify the spirit of a Hornet with their sportsmanship, community service and intangibles that make them a great teammate.
Sneha Sharan, Senior
• Completed her fourth season with the women's golf program
• Graduated last month Summa Cum Laude with a psychology degree and a 3.955 GPA
• Named to the Dean's Honors List all eight semesters at Sacramento State
• One of the top players in program history, Sharan was named Big Sky Conference Player of the Year for the second straight season
• A native of Bengaluru, India, Sharan began her collegiate career with little competitive golf experience
• Despite not making the starting lineup in any event as a sophomore, she remained an incredibly supportive teammate and had a work habit that eventually turned her into one of the most dominant golfers in school history
• Became a role model for the younger players who were trying to make an impact on the team
• Organized a myriad of team activities throughout the season
• Volunteered at dozens of youth golf camps throughout the Sacramento area
• Volunteered her time as a golfer to help raise money for children's charities in the Sacramento area
• Set the school single-season record by averaging 71.80 strokes per round in 30 rounds
• Became the first woman to break 72.00 in a season for the Hornets, and finished her senior season even relative to par
• Placed in the top 20 in her final five tournaments of the season, and seven of the last eight
• Had 18 rounds of par or better which set the school single-season record
