FRESNO, Calif./TUCSON, Ariz. — As the 2025 outdoor season winds down, the Sacramento State track and field teams appear to peaking heading into the Big Sky Championships. The Hornets closed the regular season with a pair of school top-10 performances while splitting the squad between the Desert Heat Classic at Arizona and the Fresno State Invite.
 
Women's Track Highlights

• Dominique Abbott won the individual title at the Fresno State Invite with a time of 2:08.67.
• Ava Fitzgerald recorded the fastest time in her career in the 100-hurdles at the Desert Heat Classic. Fitzgerald crossed in 13.15 but had a wind reading of 2.4 meters/second which keeps the mark out of the school record book.
• The Hornets had three top five finishes in the 1500 in Fresno. Tia Oliver led the group in 4:39.88 to place third. Anna Harmon was one spot back in a time of 4:40.73 while Marina Lipary placed fifth in a career-best 4:41.02.

Men's Track Highlights

• Brandon Moreno won the 800 at the Fresno State Invite. Moreno ran 1:49.86 and finished over a second ahead of the next-closest competitor. Jake Slade finished fifth in the race in 1:52.27.
• Ryan Martin was third in the 1500 after running 3:58.75.
• Zachary Winger moved into fifth place in school history in the 110-hurdles. Winger ran 13.96 at the Desert Heat Classic.

Women's Field Highlights

• Hope Gordon accounted the for the lone top-five finish for the women. Gordon placed fourth in the shot put at the Fresno State Invite with a best of 43-05.25.

Men's Field Highlights

• Kyle Smith cracked the top 10 in the discus in school history. Smith had a throw of 165-07 to better his previous long by four-feet, 10-inches.
• The team also success in the high jump at both meets. Miles Grant cleared 6-11.00 and Eli Kaltreider 6-05.00 to finish in fifth and tie for 14^th, respectively, at the Desert Heat Classic. Preston Nunn was third with a successful attempt at 6-02.25 at the Fresno State Invite.
• Andrew Lehner placed third and Joshua Braun was fourth in the pole vault at Fresno. Both set season bests in the process.
