FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The 2026 outdoor season for the Sacramento State track & field team came to a close on Friday at the NCAA West Preliminary at Arkansas.
 
The day began for the Hornets with Eli Kaltreider in the high jump. The competition had an opening bar of 6-09.50 which Kaltreider was unable to clear on three attempts.  
 
Myles McFarland finished in 23^rd place in the men's 110-hurdles. McFarland ran 14.01 in the quarterfinals to finish in eighth place in his heat. The final advancing time to the NCAA Outdoor Championships was 13.49.
 
Jamar Andrews, Jr., was 17^th in the men's triple jump. Andrews' best effort came on his first attempt where he traveled 51-07.25. His other two attempts of the day were 51-02.25 and 50-04.0. The true freshman missed moving on to the national championship by 12.25 inches.
 
The NCAA West Preliminary was the final NCAA event for the Hornets this season. However, select members of the team will compete at the USATF U20 Championships on June 17-20 in Eugene, Ore.
