FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Hornet senior Ava Fitzgerald closed her brilliant Sacramento State career on Thursday night after competing in the women's 100-hurdles at the NCAA West Preliminary at Arkansas. Fitzgerald finished in 38^th place after running 13.62 seconds to place sixth in her heat which left her .16 seconds behind the final advancing position.
 
The Roseville, Minn., native will depart Sacramento State as the school record holder in the indoor 60-hurdles (8.29) and outdoor 100-hurdles (13.34). She was a two-time Big Sky champion, three-time NCAA West Preliminary qualifier and a nine-time all-Big Sky honoree.
 
The NCAA West Preliminary will continue on Friday with Eli Kaltreider in the high jump, Jamar Andrews, Jr., in the triple jump and Myles McFarland in the 110-hurdle quarterfinals.
