SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State went 2-1 on the final day of the Beach Bash, which included wins over San Francisco and Liberty, and a loss to Saint Mary's.
The two-day Beach Bash, which featured seven teams, was hosted by the Hornets. Sacramento State played six times over two days, and finished with a 3-3 record. Yesterday, the Hornets beat Pacific, and lost to Santa Clara and Concordia.
Sacramento State moved its record to 6-11 overall, and 4-3 on its home sand. Only four regular season matches remain until the Hornets compete in the Big West Conference Tournament in Hawaill on April 21-22.
Today, four different Sacramento State doubles teams went 2-1, including

Tiyanane Kamba-Griffin (No. 4), and

The 5-0 loss to Saint Mary's was much closer than the final score indicated. Every match was tight, including a pair of matchups that ended in 16-14 third set outcomes.
Sacramento State's No. 1 tandem of Smith/Hayes moved its record to 9-8 this season. All 17 of those matches have come in the top spot of the Hornets' lineup.
The Hornets play four times next week, including a pair of matches in Moraga on Thursday, followed by two matches in Stockton on Saturday. On Thursday, Sacramento State plays San Jose State (1 p.m.) and Saint Mary's (4 p.m.), and on Saturday, plays Santa Clara at 11 a.m., and UC Davis at 1 p.m.
