SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State posted a 1-2 record on the first day of the Beach Bash on Friday afternoon at Hornet Beach.
The Hornets opened the day with a 4-1 victory against Pacific, but fell to Santa Clara (4-1) and Concordia (5-0).
Sacramento State used the same five doubles teams in all three matches, and each of those duos picked up at least one victory during the day.

Sacramento State beat Pacific for the third time this season, as Hayes/Smith, Davis/Archer, Crom/Kamba-Griffin, and Cordano/Plugge each won in straight sets.
The Hornets' win against Santa Clara came from Tisko/Volkmann, who won in three sets (15-10 in the 3rd).
Sacramento State's loss to Concordia was much closer than the final score indicated. Two matches went to three sets, and Tisko/Volkmann played in a two-set grinder that finished at 27-25, 24-22.
The Hornets will play three more matches at the Beach Bash tomorrow, including 10 a.m. vs San Francisco, 1 p.m. vs Saint Mary's, and 4 p.m. vs Liberty.
