LEONARD WINS HIGH JUMP, 11 MORE PERSONAL BESTS SET AT RJ/JJK INVITE

LOS ANGELES — Izzi Leonard finished first in the women's high jump and 11 others set personal bests for Sacramento State during the final day of the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational on Saturday at UCLA.

Leonard was one of four athletes to clear 5-05.00 in the high jump but was awarded first place based on number of attempts. She has now finished among the top two in both meets this outdoor season.

The team had two PRs in the women's long jump led by Tamia Ramos who finished sixth with a best of 18-07.00. Audrey McElmurry was ninth at 17-04.75.

Freshman Hope Gordon had a shot put of 43-05.25 to easily surpass her previous best by two feet and help her finish seventh in the meet.

In the running events, Daysha Ford had the highest finish on the team, placing fourth in the 400 in 55.44. Alyssa Brewer was seventh in the event in 56.73.

Three Hornets ranked among the top 10 in the 100-hurdles. Freshman Ava Fitzgerald and Tia Outlaw competed in the event for the first time this outdoor season and ran 14.16 and 14.46 to finish sixth and eighth, respectively. Kameryn Brown set a PR in 14.52 to place ninth. Brown also recorded a career best of 26.77 in the 200.

The Sacramento State men found success in the jumps. John Gibbs was third in the triple jump with a long of 47-02.25 and finished seventh in the long jump at 22-06.50 to set a PR. Mason Mitchell was fourth in the long jump with a career best of 23-03.50 and Joshua Braun was fourth in the triple at 45-07.75.

Miles Grant tied for fourth place in the high jump with a clearance at 6-07.00.

On the track, Zachary Winger placed ninth in his first collegiate 110-hurdles race in 15.02. The Hornets also saw PRs from Braun in the 110H (16.10), and Mason Mitchell (10.92) and Jack Charlton (11.36) in the 100.
