FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Sacramento State sophomore
Myles McFarland advanced to the quarterfinals of the men's 110-hurdles at the NCAA West Preliminary on Wednesday. McFarland ran 13.69 seconds to shatter his personal best and move into second place in school history.

McFarland placed fourth in the first of six heats in the event. His time ended as the 17
th-fastest of the day, easily placing him among the top 24 in the event who advanced to the quarterfinals. The top 12 times on Friday will earn a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. McFarland's previous best was 13.91 seconds in the qualifying round of the Big Sky Outdoor Championships. He followed that effort by running 13.92 to win the conference title. His new time is the fastest since Ronald Brookins set the school record of 13.42 in 2011.

Sacramento State will have three other competitors in the meet with
Ava Fitzgerald running the women's 100-hurdles on Thursday and
Eli Kaltreider (high jump) and
Jamar Andrews, Jr. (triple jump) joining McFarland on Friday.
