Team sets three school top 10s

GRESHAM, Ore. — Day three of the Big Sky Outdoor Championships saw Sacramento State advance 11 men and four women to event finals. Along with those potential scorers, the women's team picked up 11.5 combined points in the high jump.

The meet will conclude on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m. with the men's discus. The final events will be the men's and women's 4x400 relays which are scheduled to start at 3:10 p.m.

Women's Track Highlights
  • Anna Harmon was the first Hornet to take the track in a running event and produced the third-fastest steeplechase in program history. The senior ran 10:29.20 which took nearly 20 seconds off her previous best.
  • Syniah Beverley and Ava Fitzgerald both advanced to the finals of the 100-hurdles. Beverly had a time of 13.76 which ranked third during the day while Fitzgerald won her heat in 13.79.
  • Breija Stredic moved on to the finals in the 400. Stredic ran 55.30 for the second-best time in her heat and the sixth-fastest of the qualifying round.
  • Freshman Victoria Chatter ran 11.84 for the fourth-fastest time in the qualifying rounds of the 100. Chatter finished second in her heat and had the second-best time of the non-heat winners.

Men's Track Highlights
  • Myles McFarland produced the fastest time of the day in the qualifying round of the 110-hurdles. McFarland improved his fourth-place standing in program history by taking a thousandth of a second of his previous best.
  • Curtis Reagor and Nathan Rider both earned spots in the finals of the 400. Reagor produced a personal-best 47.19 which was the best time of the day and ninth in program history. Rider ran 47.67 to place second in his heat and will be seeded fifth in the finals. Ife Orekoya had the eighth-best time of the day but will not advance to the finals as one of the four heat winners, and automatic advancers, ranked behind him. Orekoya finished .05 seconds back of the last at-large selection.
  • The Hornets will have strong representation in the finals of the 100 as Gianni Miles and Jonas Petty each won their heats and Jayden Thompson earned a spot on time. Miles cruised through his heat and finished in 10.44 which ranked him third in the day. Petty surged over the final 30 meters of his heat to win by a tenth in a PR of 10.61. Thompson was third in his heat in 10.66 and sat on the bubble through the final heat before securing a spot. Sacramento State nearly had a fourth in the final as Isaiah King ran 10.71 to place ninth overall.
  • Brandon Moreno ran the second-fastest 800 in school history and just missed winning his heat on his way to a berth in the finals. Moreno ran near the front of the pack for both laps and nearly chased down Montana State's Harvey Cramb at the finish line. Moreno ran 1:48.91 to take 0.3 seconds off his career best and record the fastest time by a Hornet since All-American Nathanael Litwiller (1:48.35) in 2011.
  • Blake Gross and Brock Gross punched their tickets to the finals of the 400-hurdles. Blake Gross ran 52.16 for the sixth-fastest time in school history. His time was the second-best of the day and took 1.13 seconds off his Hornet PR. Brock Gross ranked sixth during the day in 53.91.
  • The final two qualifiers for the men came in the 200 where Petty and Miles both moved on. The pair had matching official times of 21.18 to lead the field. Petty will own the top seed on Saturday as he was a microscopic .005 seconds ahead of Miles.
