Prior to Sacramento State
- Attended Modesto JC for two years.
- Finished in second place at the 3C2A Championships in the decathlon.
- Scored 6,453 points at the meet.
- Won the Big 8 title in the 110-hurdles and was second in the 400-hurdles.
- Was part of the 4x400 which won the NorCal title and finished fifth at the state meet.
- Placed second at the 3C2A NorCal Championships as well as the Combined Events Championships.
- Finished in seventh place at the NorCal Championships as a freshman in the decathlon.
- Bests included 15.07 in the 110-hurdles and 49.21 in the 400.
