MOSCOW, Idaho — Five Sacramento State athletes advanced to event finals and the Hornet women and men each had scorers during the second day of the Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at Idaho.

In the women's running events, Sacramento State advanced four athletes to Saturday's finals and had three school top 10 marks. The day began with Ava Fitzgerald and Tia Outlaw each punching their ticket to the finals of the 60-hurdles. Fitzgerald ran 8.55 which moved her into fifth place in school history. Outlaw just missed cracking the Sacramento State top 10 with a time of 8.64 seconds which was nearly a tenth better than her previous best. Kameryn Brown also had a significant PR with a time of 8.76 seconds to finish ninth overall.

Despite not having run the DMR all season, the foursome posted a time of 11:48.31 which is the third fastest in school history and placed fifth in the meet to earn the team four points.

Abby Meder scored the lone point for the Hornets on Friday as she was eighth in the weight throw with a best of 54-03.00. Breanna Espinoza finished just out of the top eight but still had a PR of nearly five feet with a long of 54-01.00.
