GRESHAM, Ore. — The first day of the 2026 Big Sky Outdoor Track and Field Championships saw Sacramento State represented by three competitors in both the heptathlon and decathlon.

Cole Oliver sit in fifth through seventh place, respectively, in the decathlon
Merle Weber is fourth,
Jessi Barry sixth and
Charlotte Zeigermann 11
th in the heptathlon. Both events will conclude on Thursday.

Blake Gross opened the meet by running 11.06 for the second fastest time in the field in the 100. He added a long jump of 20-11.25 before setting PRs in his final three events. The stretch began with a shot put of 36-02.75 for a 17.5-inch improvement. He then cleared 5-10.50 to beat his previous best by two inches and ran the 400 in 48.44 to lower his best by nearly a half second. His 400 time was second-fastest in the meet.

Brock Gross ran 11.18 in the 100, long jumped 22-01.00 and had a shot put of 35-00.50. He matched the clearance of his brother in the high jump at 5-10.50 for a two-inch improvement before running 49.51 in the 400.

Oliver started with a 100 in 11.67 and then set a PR in the long jump at 21-05.50 — three inches beyond his previous best. He was just a quarter-inch of his PR in the high jump after clearing 6-03.25 to rank third in the competition before ending the day with a 400 in 51.41.

Blake Gross finished the day with 3,572 points which leaves him 293 points back of Weber State Tyler Warnick and just 43 points shy of third place.
Brock Gross totaled 3,554 points while Oliver amassed 3,489.

The final five events of the decathlon will be the 110-hurdles, 1500, discus, pole vault and javelin.

In the heptathlon, Weber opened with a time of 15.04 in the 100-hurdles. She then cleared 5-03.00 in the high jump which was the second-best mark in the meet. She was also second in the shot put with a long of 37-01.00 and wrapped up the day by running 26.84 in the 200. Her 2,912 points through the first four events leaves her 270 points back of Idaho's Hanna Tait for the lead.

Barry ran 15.17 in the 100H and then led the field with a high jump of 5-05.25. The senior passed on the first eight heights and then needed all three attempts at 5-04.25 to stay alive. They added a shot put of 26-05.00 and ran the 200 in 25.85. Barry totaled 2,838 points over the fourth events.

Zeigermann was competing in the heptathlon for the first time in her collegiate career. She ran 15.48 in the 100H, high jumped 4-10.25, had a shot put of 30-08.50 and clocked a time of 25.82 in the 200 to amass 2,679 points.

The long jump, javelin and 800 will be the final three events in the heptathlon on Thursday.
