SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State head coach Mike Bibby announced today that 6-foot-9, 200-pound forward Giannis Asimakopoulos will transfer from Colby College to the Hornets.

A native of Greece, Asimakopoulos will be the Hornets' eighth signee for the 2026-27 season, joining:

The Asimakopoulos File
• A 6-9, 200-pound forward from Thessaloniki, Greece
• Has a seven-foot wingspan
• Will be a sophomore for the Hornets
• Invited to the U20 Greek National Team training camp in early June
• Was a member of the U18 Greek National Team
• Spent his freshman season (2025-26) at Colby College in Colby, Kansas
• Played in 27 games, including 16 starts as a freshman
• Was the Trojans' third leading scorer and second leading rebounder
• Averaged 9.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 0.6 blocked shots per game
• Went to the free throw line 3.4 times per game, and converted at a 78% clip (72-92)
• With the Greek National team, he competed with the squad at the FIBA U18 EuroBasket Tournament last summer
• Played in the Greek Rising Stars League where he averaged a league-leading 19.8 points and 10.8 rebounds
• A 2025 graduate of Mandoulides High School in Greece
• Father, Antonis, played pro basketball in Greece for 20 years
