SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State head coach
Mike Bibby announced the program has signed Sandra Day O'Connor High School guard Melvin Stubbs Jr., who will enroll at the University as a freshman.
Stubbs Jr. becomes the program's second signee for the 2026-27 season, joining North Mecklenburg High School guard
Ashton Pierce.

• A 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard from Tucson, Ariz.
• Has a 6-foot-9 wingspan
• A 2026 graduate of Sandra Day O'Connor High School in Phoenix, Ariz.
• Played his senior season at O'Connor after spending his first three prep seasons at Catalina Foothills High School in Tucson, Ariz.
• As a senior, he helped lead O'Connor HS to a 20-9 overall record, a 6A Desert Valley championship, and a quarterfinal appearance at the state championships
• Named the 6A Desert Valley Region Defensive Player of the Year and an all-West Valley Preps selection
• Averaged 10.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks per game during that senior season
• As a junior at Catalina Foothills HS, he was named the 5A Southern Arizona Basketball Player of the Year after averaging 20.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.1 steals and 2.0 blocks per game
• Two-time attendee of The London Showcase
• Played travel ball for Arizona Select
• Mother, Charita Stubbs, is entering her fourth season as head volleyball coach at the University of Arizona
