AZUSA/WALNUT/LONG BEACH, Calif. — The Sacramento State men's and women's track and field teams competed at three meets on Friday with the distance runners at the Bryan Clay Classic, the sprinters and jumpers at the Mt. SAC Relays and the throwers at the Beach Invitational.
 
At the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., Anna Harmon and Dominique Abbott each set PRs to place 16^th and 17^th in the B section of the 1500. Harmon ran 4:34.15 and took 6.41 seconds off her previous best. Abbott cross in nearly the same time (4:34.17) to shave 6.36 seconds off her career low heading into the meet. Dakota Gibson also set a PR in 4:41.90.
 
Late in the night, Brandon Moreno topped his own school record in the 1500 by running 3:46.15 to finish in 11th place in the A section. Moreno set the school record two weeks ago in 3:46.45.
 
The majority of the team took part in the first day of the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. Tristian Campbell had the highest finish in a track event as the freshman placed seventh in the women's 400 in 55.09. That time was just off her season best of 55.05 which ranks ninth in school history. Emily Giddens added a PR in the race in 56.29 seconds to finish in 24^th place.
 
Eli Kaltreider won the collegiate B section of the high jump after clearing 6-06.75.
 
Zachary Winger led the men with an 11^th-place showing in the 110-hurdles. Winger ran 14.27 in the race.
 
The 4x400 relay team of Malachi Cox, Winger, Andrew Abello and Nathan Rider ran a season-best 3:15.08 to place 15^th in the meet. Nathan Rider also had a 15^th place finish in the long jump with a season-best 23-00.00.
 
Saturday at the Mt. SAC Relays will consist of the majority of the invitational sections of the races. Among those competing for the Hornets are Ava Fitzgerald (100H), Breija Stredic (400H), Miles Grant (HJ) and the women's 4x100 relay team.
 
The team had a handful of throwers compete in the opening day of the Beach Invitational at Long Beach State. Emmanuel Akutey led the team in the hammer (143-01) while Abby Sheets had the top mark in the women's javelin (99-10) for the Hornets.
 
Sacramento State will compete in the shot put and discus on Saturday.
