ROWING VICTORIOUS IN THREE PETITE FINALS ON LAST DAY OF THE SAN DIEGO CREW CLASSIC

SAN DIEGO -- Sacramento State's varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four were each victorious in their respective petite finals on the last day of the San Diego Crew Classic on Sunday at Crown Point Shores.

The Hornets, who also competed a second varsity four, saw all four of their boats compete yesterday in heat racing. Each of those four entries raced in stacked fields that included multiple nationally ranked schools.

Sacramento State's varsity eight wrapped up an impressive weekend by winning its petite final with a time of 6:48.74, finishing ahead of San Diego (6:52.66) and Santa Clara (7:26.53). The Hornets went sub-6:40 in their heat yesterday, finishing just a half boat length behind nationally ranked Notre Dame and UCLA.

The Hornets' second varsity eight won its petite final with a time of 7:30.88, finishing over five seconds faster than UC San Diego's second place time of 7:36.06. Like the varsity eight, Sacramento State's second varsity eight raced three nationally ranked schools in its heat yesterday.

The Hornets' varsity four placed first in its petite final with a time of 8:09.37, finishing ahead of UC San Diego's time of 8:11.15.

Sacramento State's second varsity four finished third in its petite final with a time of 8:33.58.

The Hornets do not compete again until hosting the WIRA Championship on Lake Natoma on April 26-27.
