SAN DIEGO – Sacramento State competed a varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four and a second varsity four on the first day of the San Diego Crew Classic on Saturday at Crown Point Shores.
All four boats competed in heats or prelims that included multiple nationally ranked squads.
In the varsity eight, SacramentoState (7:07.64) placed third in its heat, trailing only a pair of nationally ranked crews in fifth-ranked Washington and 10th-ranked Cal. The Hornets qualify for tomorrow's grand final at 9:23 a.m. against second-ranked Texas, Washington, Cal, UCLA, Washington State and San Diego.
The second varisty eight placed fourth in its heat with a time of 7:39.73, and qualified for its grand final tomorrow at 10:15 a.m. Sacramento State's varisty four placed seventh in its prelim, and will race in its grand final tomorrow at 10:07 a.m. The second varsity eight also placed seventh in its prelim, and will compete in their grand final at 11:43 a.m.
