MALIBU, Calif. -- Sacramento State took down Morehead State, 3-2, in its final match of the Malibu Invite.
The Hornets had wins from Caitlin Volkmann/Bridgette Smith (No. 1), Ashlynn Archer/Ellie Tisko (No. 2), and Savannah Risley/Kate Doorn (No. 5).
The duo of Volkmann/Smith took down the Eagles in straight sets, 21-15, 21-14.
Archer/Tisko also took the win in straight sets, 21-18, 21-17, improving their season record to 8-4.
Risley/Doorn continued their winning ways against Morehead State, taking the match 21-18, 21-15. The duo saw their first two wins as a pair this weekend.
The pair of Mia Guevara/Victoria Marthaler (No. 4) dropped a close three setter, falling just short to the Eagles, 17-21, 22-20, 13-15.
The Hornets are back in action next week at the Big West Challenge, hosted by Cal Poly, where they will play six conference matches on Friday-Saturday in San Luis Obispo.
