SACRAMENTO, Calif. — After competing at six meets since the start of the new year, the Sacramento State track and field teams will culminate their 2025 season with the Big Sky Indoor Championships at Northern Arizona on Thursday-Saturday at the Walkup Skydome.

The meet will begin with the pentathlon and opening day of the heptathlon at 9 a.m. PT. The following day, the heptathlon will conclude in the morning and the main program of the meet will start with the men's 60-hurdles, women's long jump and women's weight throw at 2 p.m. The final event of the day will be the women's DMR at 6:25 p.m. Saturday will feature an early start with the women's high jump starting at 9 a.m. PT. The 4x400 relays will be final events of the day with the men scheduled for 1:15 p.m. and the women to follow immediately after. All three days of the meet will be livestreamed on ESPN+.

Multi Preview
Sacramento State will one woman and two men competing in the multis beginning on Thursday.
Eliana Coburn currently ranks third in the Big Sky in the pentathlon with a season-best of 3,729 points. Coburn has had success at the Big Sky meet, winning the pentathlon in 2023 and placing fifth last season.
Jack Charlton and
Joshua Braun will each take on the heptathlon. The pair have each been entered in a pair of heptathlons this season with Braun leading the team with a high of 3,821 points. Charlton placed fourth in the heptathlon at last season's Big Sky Indoors with 4,830 points and set his career best during the 2024 season with 4,846 points which ranks seventh in school history.

Sprints/Hurdles Preview
The bulk of the team's entries come in the sprints. Sacramento State athletes make up five of the 26 entries in the women's 60-meter dash.
Jessi Barry tops the list with a time of 7.54 seconds.
Zoe Ewell,
Jayla Cigar-Dingle and
Kassidy Schroth will all double in the 60 and 200. The trio will be joined by
Breija Stredic and
Tristian Campbell who will also run the 400. Ewell enters this week ranked seventh in the Big Sky and fifth all-time at Sacramento State with a 200 time of 24.27. Stredic and Campbell own two of the top eight times in the 400 with marks of 54.86 (fourth in school history) and 54.93 (fifth in school history), respectively.
Emily Giddens completes the team's entries in the 400 and is the third member of the team to set a school top 10 mark (55,45, seventh) in the event this season.

Ava Fitzgerald and Coburn will both run the 60-hurdles. Fitzgerald set the school record and leads the Big Sky with a time of 8.31 seconds at the Don Kirby Elite. She is in search of her first conference title after placing second as a freshman and fourth last season. Coburn is also among the top eight in the league with a best of 8.68 which places her seventh in the Big Sky.

The men will see
Xavier Bruce and
Truedell Minnieweather, Jr., both compete in the 60. Bruce leads the team with a best of 6.91 seconds this season. The duo will also run the 200 along with
Nathan Rider and
Malachi Cox. Rider ran 21.64 at the Don Kirby Elite in Albuquerque, N.M., for the fastest time on the team this year and fifth best in program history. Cox and Rider will also run the 400. Cox is currently eighth in the Big Sky with a best of 48.03 which ranks fifth in school history.

Charlton will bounce back from the heptathlon to take part in the 60-hurdles and the team will also see the return of
Zachary Winger who has yet to compete in the 60H this season. Winger has a career best of 8.01 seconds which came last season.

Middle Distance/Distance Preview
Sacramento State will have five women running races of 800 meters or longer at the meet.
Dominique Abbott and
Lilly Escorcia will compete in the 800. Abbott most recently ran 2:11.18 to move into seventh place in school history.
Viviana Valenton and
Ashley Busienei will each run the mile. Valenton is fourth in program history in the event with a best of 4:54.26.
Tia Oliver is entered in the 3K. This year, Oliver set PRs in mile (4:58.0) and 3K (9:45.23) to rank ninth and second in program history.

The men will have four entries in the 800 comprised of
Jake Slade,
Logan Borg,
Irven Hill and
Brandon Moreno. Slade leads the team with a best of 1:53.19 which is tied for fourth in school history. Moreno will run the event for the first time this season. He recently set the school record in the mile with a time of 4:07.19.
Ryan Martin is the only Hornet male to take on a race longer than 800m. Martin will run the 3K where he owns a best of 8:20.60 which places him second in the Hornet record book.

Jumps Preview
The duo of
Miles Grant and
Eli Kaltreider are poised to score big points for the team in the men's high jump. Grant leads the Big Sky and is among the top 20 in the nation with a best of 2.20m (7-02.50). His mark ranks second in school history and is the best since 1979. Grant has cleared 6-11.75 or better in three of his four meets this year. Kaltreider, a true freshman, is third in the Big Sky and tied for eighth in school history with a best of 6-08.75.

Sacramento State has four entries in the women's high jump. Barry tops the list even though they didn't compete in the high jump until Feb. 8 and has since jumped 5-07.75 which is tied for fourth all-time by a Hornet.
Abby Sheets,
Chandler Miller and Coburn have all jumped between 5-05.76 and 5-06.00 this season.

In the horizontal jumps,
Mason Mitchell will compete in the long jump and
Kellan Quinley and Braun will take part in the men's triple jump. Mitchell is sixth in the Big Sky this season with a best of 23-02.75 in the long jump while Quinley is fourth in the TJ at 47-11.25.

The women will have five representatives in the long jump comprised of
Tamia Ramos, Barry,
Mara Vonnahme,
Audrey McElmurry and
R'kai Davis. Ramos entered the meet ranked fifth in the league and tied the all-time record at Sacramento State with a best of 20-00.50. Barry is one spot back on the Big Sky list with a top jump of 19-03.50 this season which is tied for seventh in program history. Ramos, McElmurry and Davis will all double in the triple jump and will be joined by
Jayla Flowers. Ramos, again, headlines the group with a best of 40-02.75 which is the third-best in the Big Sky this year. McElmurry's effort of 39-03.00 is seventh in the league in 2025.

Throws Preview
Hope Gordon is the only Hornet thrower to compete in multiple events. Gordon will be in the shot put and weight throw. She will be joined in the shot put by Sheets. Freshman
Emmanuel Akutey will make his Big Sky Indoor Championships debut in the weight throw.
