BERKELEY, Calif. — The Sacramento State men's and women's track and field teams started the outdoor season with six school top 10s and 13 top-three finishes on Saturday at the Cal Invitational.
 
Women' s Track Highlights

• Freshman Victoria Chatter won the 100 with a time of 11.72. Chatter moved into eighth place in program history and the third-fastest time by a Hornet since 2020.
• Breija Stredic ran 54.79 and moved into 9^th place in the 400. Stredic finished third in the event and took nearly two seconds off her previous best of 56.68 from 2024.
• Syniah Beverley set a career-best of 14.16 in the 110-hurdles to finish in fourth place.
• The women's 4x100 team of Ava Fitzgerald, S'niyah Cade, Beverley and Chatter ran 45.12 to move into second place in program history. The time was .09 seconds off the school record which was set last season.

 
Men's Track Highlights

• Jayden Thompson won the 100 in 10.49 seconds in his first outdoor meet. Thompson's time moved him into 10^th place and was the third best by a Hornet since the turn of the century.
• Coming off setting the school indoor record in the 200, Nathan Rider jumped into ninth place in the school's outdoor list with a time of 21.16. Rider led three Hornets in the top four as he was followed by Tim Edwards, Jr. (21.41) and Thompson (21.42) who were third and fourth, respectively.
• Malachi Cox was fourth in the 400, Brandon Moreno fifth in the 1500 and Brock Gross fifth in the 110-hurdles to complete the top five finishers for the team.
• The men also had the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams place fourth and second, respectively.

 
Women's Field Highlights

• Galadriel Mellion finished in fourth place with a best of 155-09 to claim eighth in school history. Mellion was shy of her career best of 167-03 which came from her time at Arizona State. Mellion was also fourth in the shot put at 44-04.75 while teammate Hope Gordon was fifth at 44-00.00.
• Indiana Davis placed third in the high jump after clearing 5-05.75 in her first outdoor meet at Sacramento State.
• Mara Vonnahme and Charlotte Zeigermann were third and fourth in the long jump. Vonnahme had a long of 18-07.25 while Zeigermann traveled 18-04.25.

 
Men's Field Highlights

• Kyree Marshall and Quentin Mitchell each cleared 6-05.00 in the high jump. Marshall placed third based on jumps.
• Emmanuel Akutey was third in the shot put at 46-10.75 while Blake DaQuino was one spot back at 38-07.00. DaQuino was also fourth in the discus (135-10).
• Blake Gross was fifth in the javelin with a long of 143-04 in his first outdoor meet as a Hornet.
