MORENO'S SCHOOL RECORD LEADS THREE MORE SCHOOL TOP 10S ON SATURDAY

Hornets will now focus on Big Sky Indoor Championships in two weeks

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Brandon Moreno set the school record in the mile, breaking a mark which had stood for over a decade to highlight the performances by the Sacramento State men's and women's indoor track and field teams at a pair of mets on Saturday.

Moreno ran 4:07.75 in the mile at the Husky Classic to take over five seconds off his previous best of 4:13.23 which came last week at the Riverfront Invitational in Spokane, Wash. His time moved him from seventh place to the top of the charts in school history, bettering former All-American Nathanael Litwiller's time of 4:08.23 which was set on Feb. 1, 2013.

The Hornets had a pair of school top 10 marks set at the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. Tamia Ramos triple jumped 40-03.25 to move into 10th place all-time at Sacramento State. Ramos' mark was over a three-foot improvement from her previous best of 36-10.50 and is the second longest in the Big Sky Conference this season.

Nautus Moore ran 48.47 in the seeded 400 to better his PR by .05 seconds. Moore moved up one spot in the school record book and is now ninth in Hornet history.

The men had three newcomers in the 60-meter dash in New Mexico. Senior transfer Jalen Adams led the group in 7.00 while Kalil Powers set a PR of 7.12 and Jameel McDaniels made his debut in 7.17. Zachary Winger ran 8.25 in the 60-hurdles.

For the women, Zoe Ewell ran 7.75 for the fastest time by a Sacramento State woman in the 60. Daysha Ford ran 57.39 in the 400 and Ava Fitzgerald posted a time of 8.72 in the 60-hurdles.

Audrey McElmurry and R'kai Davis also set personal bests in the women's triple jump with Ramos. McElmurry had a long of 38-04.75 for a seven-inch betterment. Davis finished with a best of 37-10.00 to improve her career long by 3.25 inches.

At the Husky Classic, Mia Lawrence guided a trio of Hornets in the women's 800, running 2:13.46. Sarah Collier set her career best in the event at 2:14.50 to take over three seconds off her PR. Dominique Abbott also made her indoor debut with a time of 2:15.56. Kate Sanders improved her career best in the mile by over 12 seconds with a time of 5:04.60.

Deanna Gaines led the team in the shot put with a best of 40-03.25.
