HONOLULU -- Sacramento State's season came to an end with a pair of losses at the Big West Conference Tournament at Queens Beach.
The Hornets opened the double elimination tournament with a 5-0 loss to 11th-ranked Long Beach State, and lost a tightly contested matchup with CSUN, 3-2. In fact, in that loss to the Matadors, three of the five doubles matches went three sets. With the match tied at 2-2, CSUN clinched with a 15-13 win in the third set at No. 3.
The losses ended Sacramento State's season. The Hornets won six contests this year, including three wins over Pacific and two against San Francisco.

Ellie Tisko (No. 2) and
Caty Cordano/
Hailey Plugge (No. 5) win in three sets. For Volkmann/Tisko, the pair won five of their last seven matches of the season and finished with an 8-6 record.
Cordano/Plugge also won eight matches this season, and the No. 1 team of
Kalani Hayes/
Bridgette Smith led the team with nine victories.
The Hornets completed their 11th season of beach volleyball. Sacramento State added beach as its 21st intercollegiate sport in 2013.
