SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State concluded the regular season in dominant fashion, dismantling Montana State, 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-16), on Senior Day at the Nest. The Hornets hit .419, the ninth best single-match mark in the program's Div. I era (1991-pres.), and best mark since 2016.

With the win, Sacramento State wraps up the regular season with a 16-11 overall record, 10-6 in the Big Sky Conference, and 12-4 at home. The Hornets won each of their last eight home matches, all coming via three-set sweep. The Hornets also finished their spring season with a 10-6 conference record, and have won at least 10 Big Sky contests six times in the last seven years.

The Hornets finish in a three-way tie for fourth place with Montana State and Northern Arizona. However, Sacramento State loses out on a number of tiebreakers, and will assume the No. 6 seed at next week's Big Sky Tournament (Nov. 18-20) in Ogden, Utah. The Hornets will play No. 3 seed Portland State on Thursday at 9 a.m. PST in the quarterfinals. The winner advances to Friday's semifinal match at 3 p.m. PST. Sacramento State defeated Portland State in both regular season matchups.

Weber State, the winner of the Big Sky's regular season championship, will be the No. 1 seed at the tournament while either Northern Colorado or Portland State will be the 2 seed. For tournament information, please click here.

Sacramento State will enter the Big Sky Tournament as one of the hottest teams in the league, having won eight of their last nine matches. Among those victories include three-set sweeps of the top three teams in the Big Sky - Weber State, Northern Colorado and Portland State.

The Hornets' 12 home wins are the most since the 2007 team won 15 times in the Nest. That includes a 7-1 home record against Big Sky competition, with all seven wins resulting in three-set sweeps.

Today's loss dropped Montana State to 14-13 overall and 10-6 in conference. The Bobcats, who will be the 4 seed at next week's tournament, lost for just the second time on the road to a Big Sky team. Impressively, MSU had been 6-1 in road conference contests, and had won five straight away from home vs. the Big Sky. Northern Arizona will be the No. 5 seed at the tournament.

Sacramento State had little trouble with the Bobcats, finishing with 45 kills and just nine errors in 86 attacks. Sacramento State hit better than .300 in all three sets, including a robust .560 in the first set. The Bobcats won the first point of all three sets, and that 1-0 lead was their largest advantage of the afternoon as the Hornets dominated throughout.

The Hornets had six players hit better than .330. That included outside hitter Bridgette Smith who had 15 kills, 10 digs and a .433 hitting percentage. Rightside hitter Tiyanane Kamba-Griffin had seven kills, two blocks and a .600 hitting percentage, and middle blocker Kalani Hayes seven kills, two blocks and a .556 hitting percentage. Outside hitter Macey Hayden hit .357 with six kills, two aces and six digs, and middle Cianna Andrews three kills, four blocks and a .333 hitting percentage.

Setter McKenna Smith had two kills, 16 assists, seven digs and a .667 hitting percentage, and fellow setter Ashtin Olin had 16 assists, 11 digs and two aces. Rightside hitter Caitlin Volkmann posted five kills and four digs, and Caty Cordano tallied seven assists and five digs.

Today marked the final home matches in the careers of Sacramento State seniors Sarah Falk, Michelle Taynton, Claudia Wilson, Andrews and Hayden. All five were honored prior to the match.
