Biography

2024 Season
A first team all-Big Sky Conference selection…started all 33 matches, and played in each of the team’s 127 sets as a six-rotation outside hitter…was a team captain…posted career highs in nearly every statistical category, including 3.70 kills, 2.25 digs and 0.38 aces per set…finished third in the Big Sky in each of those three categories…finished with 470 kills after her previous high had been 311, set during the 2022 season…in Big Sky play, she raised her kills per set average to 4.06, the second best mark in the conference…had 25 matches with double-figure kills, and 72 during her career…also posted eight double-doubles during the season…started 107 consecutive matches to end her career…one of three Hornets named to the Big Sky all-tournament team…tallied a career-high tying 22 kills (to go with a .395 hitting percentage) in the Big Sky Tournament quarterfinal win over Portland State…named Big Sky Player of the Week on Sept. 9…was named co-MVP of the Sacramento State Invitational…named Big Sky all-academic for the fifth straight season…finishes career with 1,457 kills, 645 digs, 296 blocks and 93 aces…ranks fourth in school history in career matches played (140), and fifth in kills.

2023 Season
One of three Hornets to start all 34 matches…primarily played on the right side…played in all 130 sets…finished with averages of 2.32 kills, 0.72 digs, 0.71 blocks and 2.68 points per set…named the Hornet Invitational MVP, and all-tournament at the Sacramento State Invitational…posted double figures in kills on 15 occasions…season-high 17 kills came at Montana State…had 13 kills and a .440 hitting percentage in the regular season finale at Montana, which clinched the Hornets a Big Sky regular season title…averaged between 2.3 and 2.6 kills per set during all four seasons of her career…a Big Sky all-academic selection for the fourth straight year.

2022 Season
One of three Hornets to start all 30 matches…played in 119 of a possible 120 sets…played on both the left side and right side…primarily as rightside hitter…finished season with averages of 2.61 kills, 1.37 digs and 0.51 blocks per set…raised those numbers in Big Sky play to 2.62 kills, 1.56 digs and 0.77 blocks per set…hit .245 in league play…registered double figures in kills in six of the final 10 matches of the season, and 15 times overall…during her final four matches of the season, Volkmann averaged nearly two digs (1.89) per set…season-high 20 kills and season-best .594 hitting percentage (20-1-32) came in a road win at Idaho…also hit .563 with 10 kills in a home win over the Vandals…had three double-doubles, two of those came against Portland State…posted 12 kills, 11 digs and six blocks in the regular season finale against Portland State…a Big Sky all-academic selection.

2021 Season
Played in 26 matches (17 starts) and 92 sets…missed a pair of matches with injury…played at both outside and rightside hitter…started each of the Hornets’ final 10 matches of the season at rightside hitter…finished with averages of 2.33 kills, 0.72 digs and 0.65 blocks per set…the 2.33 kills per set were the second highest mark on the team…posted double figures in kills on nine occasions, including a season-best 18 at Idaho…had 10 kills and a career-high tying seven blocks in the Hornets’ Big Sky Tournament matchup with Portland State…posted first career double-double (18 kills, 10 digs) at Idaho…had 14 kills and a career-best .737 hitting percentage in win over Boise State…had 14 kills with zero errors in 19 attacks in that match…a Big Sky all-academic selection.

2021 Spring Season

Played in all 17 matches, including 12 starts at outside/rightside hitter…ranked second on the team with 2.56 kills per set as a true freshman…also averaged 0.57 digs and 0.67 blocks per set…had eight matches with double figures in kills, which included 12+ kills on six of those occasions…had 12 kills and a .375 hitting percentage vs. Idaho State (Jan. 30); 11 kills and .304 vs. Idaho State (Jan. 31); 16 kills and .325 at Weber State…16 kills and 17.0 points at Weber State were both season highs…had a season-best six blocks on two occasions…never went more than two straight matches without double digits in kills…a Big Sky all-academic selection.

High School

A 2020 graduate of Silver Creek High School in Longmont, Colo…played four years of volleyball and one season of basketball for the Raptors…all four of those volleyball seasons were spent with the varsity squad…as a senior, she was named first team all-state, Northern Conference 4A Player of the Year and first team all-league after tallying 413 kills (5.7 per set) to go along with a .320 hitting percentage…helped the Raptors to a 19-6 overall record, and a perfect 14-0 mark in league play…was a second team all-state selection and first team all-league choice as a junior after leading the state of Colorado with 552 kills (6.4 per set) to go along with a .348 hitting percentage…during that season, she broke the school single-match record with 35 kills against Ponderosa High School in the state tournament…also named honorable mention all-league as a sophomore after fishing with 275 kills, and an average of 3.7 per set…over her final three years, she combined to record 1,224 kills, 122 aces, 435 digs and 147 blocks…a four-time academic all-state selection.

Personal
Parents are Andy and Janine Volkmann…a business major who graduated in the fall of 2023…graduated in just three and a half years…currently working on a master's degree in business analytics…played for the NORCO Volleyball Club in Windsor, Colo.
