CORVALLIS, Ore. — The Sacramento State men's golf nearly completed the first two rounds of the Oregon State Invitational on Monday but darkness won out halting the second round with only a couple of holes remaining.

Ethan Davidson led the team in the first round with a 1-over par round of 72. Davidson started the round on the 11th hole and was quickly 2-under with birdies on the par-3 13th and par-5 14th. He bogeyed the par-4 15th before parring the next eight holes. The junior moved back to even with a bogey on the par-3 sixth and later bogeyed the par-4 ninth to jump to 1-over.

Casey Leebrick and Joe Fowler each shot 76 to tie for second on the team during the first round. Leebrick had a bogey on his first hole (No. 12) and was 3-over until he birdied the par-4 second. He had three bogeys and six pars over his last nine holes.

Fowler was 3-over through six holes. His first birdie came on the par-4 first but was immediately followed by bogeys on Nos. 2 and 3. Following two more bogeys, he birdied the par-4 11th and ended the round with a par.

Riley Bell contributed the final score toward the team total in the first round with a 77. Bell had four pars and four bogeys over his first eight holes but stood at 3-over at the midway point of his round with a birdie on the par-4 third. He bogeyed three of the next five holes before settling down with four straight pars.

Jonathan Tanihana owns the lowest score on the team through the first 17 holes of the second round. Tanihana, who shot 78 in the first round, began the round with three pars and then ran off birdies on Nos. 16, 17 and 18. He cooled a little on the front nine where he had a birdie on the par-4 third as well as three bogeys. Once back on the back side of the course, Tanihana birdied the par-4 10th before play was stopped.

Davidson is 1-under through his 17 holes. He was even through his first nine holes with birdies on Nos. 14, 15 and 1 and bogeys on Nos. 12, 17 and 18. He dropped back to 1-under with a birdie on the par-4 third before bogeys on Nos. 6 and 7 took him back 1-over. Davidson birdied the par-4 eighth and ninth and has only the 10th remaining in the morning.

The remaining second round scores for the team include a 75 from Joe Fowler. Leebrick is 7-over with one hole left in his round. Hole-by-hole scores are not available at the time of this article.
