BANDON, Ore. — Zach Mate led the Sacramento State men's golf team with an even par round of 71 during the second round of the Bandon Dunes Championship on Monday. The Hornets were 13-over as a team and are in seventh place heading into the final round.

Mate is tied for 12
th place in the individual standings with rounds of 68 and 71. On Monday, Mate was 1-over through his first nine holes with two birdies, a bogey and a double bogey. He birdied the par-5 15
th to get back to even before a bogey on No. 16. Mate birdied the par-5 18
th and par-4 1
st to move to 1-under for the first time in his round. After three pars, he ended the day with a bogey on the par-3 fifth.

Jai Bahl ranked second on the team with a 73 and is tied for 18
th. Bahl had the best start on the team with three birdies and five pars over his first eight holes. However, he played the next seven holes at 6-over to stand at 3-over until a birdie on the par-5 third.

Max Thomas shot 76 and
Gabriel Smith 77 to complete the team total. Thomas had one birdie, four bogeys and a double bogey. Smith recorded four bogeys and a double bogey along with 13 pars in his round.

Oregon State maintained its first-day lead and will take a 10-stroke advantage into Tuesday. The Beavers are at 24-under while Oregon (14-under), SIU Edwardsville (5-under), SeattleU (5-under) and Santa Clara (2-under) complete the top five.

The individual race became closer during the second round as Oregon State teammates Nguyen Anh Minh and Rylan Johnson are within three strokes of one another. Anh Minh followed an opening round 61 with a 70 on Tuesday. Johnson has rounds of 66 and 68.
