CORVALLIS, Ore. — The Sacramento State men's golf team tied its best performance at a regional in school history as the Hornets played the third round at 4-under par on Wednesday at the NCAA Corvallis Regional. The Hornets finished the three-day, three-round tournament in 13
th place. The team's total of 866 is the second-best in school history while the 14-over par is the best for an NCAA Regional.

On Wednesday,
Jai Bahl shot a 3-under par round of 68. His score is tied for third-best by a Hornet at regional while his score relative to par is tied for the second best. Bahl played the front nine at 1-under with a birdie on the par-5 fifth and eight pars. He moved to 2-under with a birdie on No. 10 but gave a stroke back with a bogey on the par-4 11
th. After four pars, he birdied the par-5 16
th and par-3 17
th to get to 3-under. Bahl had the highest overall finish on the team, tying for 43
rd place at 70-77-68-215.

Gabriel Smith was 2-under par during the round and tied for 49
th overall. Smith traded birdies and bogeys on the front nine to stand even through the midway point of the round. Smith birdied the par-4 third before bogeying No. 4. He second birdie on the day came on the par-3 sixth and was followed by a bogey on No. 7. Smith birdied the par-4 12
th and par-5 16
th to go along with seven pars on the back nine.

Zach Mate was the third Hornet under par during the round as he carded a 1-under par 70. Mate was even through his first nine holes with birdies on Nos. 2 and 9 and bogeys on Nos. 7 and 8. Mate parred the first three holes of the back and dropped to 1-under with a birdie on the par-3 13
th. A bogey on No. 14 momentarily returned him to even before a birdie on the par-4 15
th.

Zach Matzke and
Max Thomas each shot 73 in the final round. Matzke had four birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey. Thomas finished with three birdies and five bogeys.

Oklahoma ran away from the field to claim first place. The 17
th-ranked Sooners finished at 34-under and were followed by No. 30 UCLAÂ (14-under), No. 6 Arkansas (11-under) and No. 43 Purdue (10-under) in the top four. The final advancing team required a playoff where San Diego defeated Liberty on the second hole. The individual berth to the NCAA Championship went to Liberty's Micahel Lugiano who shot 68-66-67-201 to win by three strokes.
