BANDON, Ore. — Max Thomas shot 69 and Zach Mate finished tied for 10^th place at the third round of the Bandon Dunes Championship on Tuesday. Sacramento State finished the three-round tournament in eighth place.
 
Thomas was never above par in the round, birdying his third hole (No. 9) to get to 1-under. Following a pair of bogeys (Nos. 11 and 14) and a birdie (No. 13) to keep him even, Thomas birdied the par-4 16^th and later the par-5 third to get to 2-under. He tied for 40^th overall with rounds of 73-76-69-218.
 
Mate provided his third round of par or better in the week, shooting 71 on Tuesday. Mate was 2-under through his first nine holes with birdies on Ns. 12 and 15. Three bogeys in a four-hole stretch took him to 1-over before he birdied the second. He finished the tournament with four-consecutive pars.
 
Gabriel Smith shot 73 and Jai Bahl 78 to account for the remaining team scores. Smith had two birdies and five bogeys in the final round and tied for 57^th at 72-77-73-222. Bahl shot 68-73-78-219 to tie for 48^th. His final round was comprised of three birdies, eight bogeys and a double bogey.
 
Oregon State cruised to the team title, winning the event by 17 strokes over Oregon. The Beavers finished the tournament at 31-under par while Seattle (4-under), Santa Clara (2-under) and SIU Edwardsville (4-over) completed the top five.
 
OSU's Nguyen Anh Minh led after all three rounds to become the medalist. Anh Minh shot 61-70-69-200 and was five strokes clear of the closest competitor.
 
The Hornets will next compete at the SeattleU Redhawks Invitational at Chambers Bay GC on Mar. 30-31.
