  • Served as the head football coach at Sacramento State from 1961-75.
  • A former linebacker for the Green Bay Packers and a Navy pilot in World War II.
  • During his 15 years directing the Sacramento State program he guided his teams to the school's first two league titles.
  • Hornets also appeared in the only two bowl games in program history (the 1964 Camelia Bowl and 1968 Pasadena Bowl).
  • Clemons served for nine years as the assistant to the University President, alumni director and athletics director until his retirement in 1984.
  • Among his accomplishments during that time were the creation of the Sacramento State Aquatics Center, River City Days and the formation of the Stinger Club.
