Hall of Fame
• Joined the Sacramento State athletics department in 1956 as an assistant baseball and football coach, and served as a member of the department until 1989.
• The Hornets’ head baseball coach in 1957, and again from 1960-75, Boyes posted a 348-286 overall record and 166-71 Far Western Conference mark.
• Led the baseball team to 11 conference championships.
• His 1961 squad was the first-ever Sacramento State Athletics team to compete in a national championship tournament.
• Named the interim Athletics Director in 1968, and served again as Athletics Director in 1970-71 and 1987-89.
• Also served as Sacramento State’s chair of the department of physical education from 1963-70, Dean of the division of health and physical education (1980-82), Vice President for administration and business affairs (1982-83), and Director of University Involvement (1983-84).
• He continued to teach at Sacramento State until retiring from the University in 1996.
