LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. — Sacramento State freshman
Sophia Lee holds in the individual lead following the first round of the Big Sky Women's Golf Championship on Monday at Wigwam Golf Resort. Lee posted a career-best round of 67 to finish the day at 4-under par is one shot better than a pair of golfers.

Sacramento State was 3-over par as a team and will head into the second round in fourth place. Northern Arizona took the lead following the first day at 3-under and is followed by Northern Colorado and Montana State which are both even.

Lee was flawless in her round, posting four birdies and 14 pars on her way to a bogey-free performance. The Fairfield, Calif., native parred the first four holes before a birdie on the par-5 fifth took her to 1-under. She later birdied the par-4 eighth and made the turn at 2-under. Lee matched that effort on the back nine with birdies on the par-4 12
th and 16
th. Her total marked the first time she has scored in the 60s this season and is her fourth-straight under-par round. Lee's 67 in the lowest by a Hornet in the first round of the Big Sky Championship and tied for the third-lowest in all rounds at the event.

Darla May Dela Torre joined Lee in finishing below par as she recorded a 1-under round of 70. De La Torre was 2-over midway through the round with bogeys on Nos. 6 and 7. She started the back nine with a birdie on the par-5 10
th but dropped back to 2-over following a birdie on the par-3 13
th. The sophomore then played her final five holes at 3-under with birdies on the par-4 14
th, par-3 17
th and par-5 18
th. De La Torre is now 1-under in her four career rounds at the Big Sky Championship.

Sacramento State's team score was completed with a pair of 75s from
Jocelyn Tseng and
Ella Kraft. Both golfers were 1-under early in the round and birdied No. 18 to close play. In between, Tseng had a third birdie, four bogeys and triple-bogey. Kraft had another birdie, five bogeys and a double-bogey.

The second of three rounds will take place on Tuesday morning. Sacramento State will be paired with Idaho State and Weber State in the third wave beginning at 7:50 a.m.
