WOMEN'S GOLF READY TO DEFEND TITLE AT BIG SKY CHAMPIONSHIP

Hornets to face deepest field in recent memory with berth to NCAA regional on the line

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. — Winners of the last three Big Sky Championships and five of the previous six, the Sacramento State women's golf team will look to make history beginning on Monday. With another win, the Hornets would become just the second program to claim four consecutive Big Sky women's golf titles, joining Northern Arizona who did it in the fall of 1996, 1997 and 1998 and the spring of 2000.

The challenge will be tougher than ever as the 10-team field boasts numerous title contenders. Sacramento State enters ranked 78th in the latest Clippd report. That places the team one position ahead of Northern Arizona which split a pair of head-to-head matchups against the Hornets this season. Montana State is ranked 103rd while Northern Colorado (127th) and Weber State (141st) are also in the top 150.

The tournament will feature three 18-hole rounds beginning on Monday at 6:30 a.m. Sacramento State will be paired with XX and XX during the first round.

Sacramento State was held the lead after all three rounds and saw all five its golfers finish in the top 15. Darla May Dela Torre tied for fourth with a 54-hole score of 213 while returners Tova Hatton (219) and Ella Kraft (220) tied for 11th and 14th, respectively.
