SACRAMENTO, Calif. — For the fifth time since 2019, the Sacramento State women's golf team will compete at the Juli Inkster Invitational hosted by San Jose State. The difference this year from year's past is the tournament will be held at historic TPC Harding Park in San Francisco.
Â
Along with playing a course which has hosted several professional tournaments, including the PGA Championship, the Hornets will face a loaded field which sees all 14 teams ranked among the top 140 in the nation. Cal (53
rd) and San Jose State (56
th) are the top ranked teams in the field and two of nine teams in the top 100. That group also includes Sacramento State which is 70
th. The tournament will have 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 on Tuesday.
Â
The Hornets most recently competed at the Causeway Invitational at Del Paso Country Club. Sacramento State finished in third place, five strokes behind Colorado and one back of UC Davis for second place.
Sophia Lee led the team, and tied for second overall, with rounds of 73-70-70-213.
Â
Ella Kraft tied for sixth place in the tournament and moved into the top 10 in a pair of categories in school history. Kraft is now tied for ninth with nine career top 10 finishes and is in a four-way tie for seventh with 17 career top-20 placements. The senior also took sole possession of first place with 44 career rounds at or below par, breaking the mark of 43 previously shared by Jennifer Koga and
Caitlin Maurice. Kraft remains the school record holder with 14 career rounds in the 60s and will take second place with 118 career rounds if the tournament plays all three scheduled rounds.
