'AIEA, Hawaii — The Sacramento State women's golf team is in sixth place following the first two rounds of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on Monday at Pearl at Kalauao. The Hornets were led by Ella Kraft who posted rounds of 70 and 72 and sits even.
 
The 14-team field includes three teams ranked among the top 25. That trio includes No. 2 USC which built a commanding 16-stroke lead and finished the day at 22-under par. No. 23 Arizona State is second at 6-under while Texas State (5-under) and No. 13 North Carolina (2-under) are the other two teams under par. Sacramento State had rounds of 295-293-588 and is 20-over. The Hornets fellow Big Sky schools Northern Colorado and Montana State by at least 10 strokes heading into the final round.
 
Kraft was 1-under in the first round with three birdies and two bogeys. She was 1-over through 14 holes before birdies on the par-4 15^th and 18^th took her into the red. The senior started the second round with 13 consecutive pars. The streak was snapped with a bogey on No. 14 before she added four more pars. Her total ties her for 11^th overall and is seven strokes behind the individual leader.
 
Tova Hatton is tied for 19^th at 2-over. Hatton shot 73 in the morning round with 16 pars and bogeys on Nos. 2 and 18. She led the team with four birdies in the second round on the way to an even-par 71. Hatton's was 1-under at the turn but moved to 1-over after a double bogey on No. 10. Birdies on Nos. 13 and 14 took her back to 1-under before a bogey on the par-4 15^th and three pars ended her day.
 
Darla May Dela Torre also shot 73 in the first round to match Hatton. Dela Torre mixed a team-high four birdies with six bogeys in the round. She followed with a 76 in the second round behind a birdie and six bogeys. Her two-round total of 149 ties her for 35^th.
 
All seven members of the team are playing in the tournament for Sacramento State. Freshman Jocelyn Tseng, who is playing as an individual is tied for 41^st after shooting 78-73-151. Sophia Lee is two strokes back and tied for 49^th while Florencia Dufey (T54th) and Ashley Koga (T62nd) complete the lineup.
