SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sophia Lee led the Sacramento State women's golf team during the first two rounds of the Causeway Invitational on Monday at Del Paso CC with scores of 73-70-143. The team also received even-par 36-hole totals from
Ella Kraft and
Jocelyn Tseng.

The Hornets were 4-over par as a team and are in third place heading into Tuesday's final round. Colorado leads the field 3-under while UC Davis is second at even par. San Diego State (7-over) and San Francisco (16-over) complete the top five.

Lee was even through her first 13 holes of the first round. After beginning the round on No. 7, she had a birdie on the par-4 10
th and a bogey on No. 12. She was near flawless in the second round, beginning with a birdie on No. 8 before her only bogey of the round on the following hole. She parred the first six holes of the back nine before a birdie on the par-4 16
th and added a second birdie on the par-5 fourth. Lee is three shots off the lead which is shared by UC Davis' Vani Karimanal and USF's Eva Pett.

Kraft overcame a slow start to the first round which had her at 4-over through six holes. She got back on track with three pars and then birdied Nos. 13, 14 and 15 to get to 1-over. After three more pars, she birdied the par-5 first and closed with two pars. She matched that score in the second round with a pair of birdies and bogeys.

Tova Hatton followed an opening-round 74 with a 1-under par 71 in the afternoon. Hatton was even through 16 holes of the morning round before ending with back-to-back bogeys. She was never above par in the second round, mixing a team-high five birdies with four bogeys.

Ashley Koga had the biggest round-to-round improvement for the team as she shot 78 in the first round and followed with a 72. Koga birdied Nos. 9 and 13 and bogeyed Nos. 18 and 2 in the second round.

Jocelyn Tseng, who was competing as an individual, had the biggest highlight of the day. Tseng aced the 171-yard, par-3 fifth hole during the opening round on her way to shooting 70. She became the third Hornet to record a hole-in-one on that hole at the Causeway Invitational, following Jennifer Koga and
Caitlin Maurice. Tseng added a 74 in the second round and is tied for eighth place overall along with Kraft.

The third round will start at 8:30 a.m. Sacramento State will be paired with Colorado and UC Davis off holes Nos. 1-4.
