FARMINGTON, Utah — The Sacramento State men's and women's golf teams were predicted to finish in first place in the upcoming Big Sky Conference season, it was announced today in a preseason coaches poll.

The Hornet women received eight of the nine possible first-place votes and finished with 80 points. Northern Arizona ranked second with 70 points while Montana State (63), Weber State (61) and Northern Colorado (45) completed the top five.

Sacramento State has captured the last three Big Sky Tournament titles and five of the previous six. The Big Sky Player of the Year as come from the Hornets each season since 2000.

The men's team returns to the Big Sky Conference for the 2025-26 year with Eastern Washington bringing back men's golf and the addition of Francis Marion as an affiliate. Sacramento State claimed all five possible first-place votes and tallied 25 total points. Idaho ranked second with 21 points.

The Big Sky Women's Golf Championship will be held on Apr. 19-21 and the men's will take place on Apr. 27-29. Both tournaments will be held at Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
