SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State played its final home matches of the season today, falling short to UC Davis (4-1) and Saint Mary's (3-2).

In the match against Davis, the pair of Mia Guevara/Victoria Marthaler (No. 3) defeated the Aggies in straight sets, 21-18, 21-15.

The duo of Bridgette Smith/Caitlin Volkmann (No. 1) pushed UC Davis to a third set, but came up short, 15-11, in the final set.

Against Saint Mary's, Ellie Tisko/Ashlynn Archer (No. 2) defeated the Gaels in straight sets, 21-17, 21-16.

Sacramento State also received a straight-set win from Smith/Volkmann in the match against Saint Mary's, with scores of 21-18, 27-25.

The pairs of Tisko/Archer and Smith/Volkmann each went 3-1 on the weekend, with both duos falling only to UC Davis.

Today's matches marked the final home contests of the season.

The Hornets will be back next week for their final two regular season matches. Both will take place on the road - Thursday at Pacific (2 p.m.), and Saturday at Saint Mary's (9:30 a.m.).
