MARICOPA, Ariz. — Caitlin Maurice shot 68 and the Sacramento State women's golf team was even in the third round of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on Thursday at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes GC. The Hornets moved up one spot in the final standings to finish in fourth place with rounds of 309-291-288-888.

Maurice started her final round with three birdies and then had a bogey on the par-4 10
th. A birdie on No. 11 returned her to even and she stayed there until a birdie on the par-5 16
th dropped her to 1-under. Maurice's final bogey of the round came on No. 18 and was followed by a six-hole stretch which she played at 4-under. The senior began her surge with a birdie on the par-4 second and followed with birdies on the par-5 third and par-4 fourth. After a par, she ended the round with a birdie on the par-3 sixth. Maurice tied for fifth place overall at 75-75-68-218 and was four shots back of Iowa State's Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn who was the medalist. Maurice now has three top five finishes this season.
Sneha Sharan tied for eighth overall at 75-71-73-219. Sharan endured a double bogey on the par-4 fifth to start her day but immediately made up one stroke with a birdie on the par-3 sixth. The senior then parred 11 consecutive holes and returned to even with a birdie on the par-4 18
th. Sharan had three pars over her final four holes with the exception being a bogey on the par-4 second.

Tova Hatton had the second-lowest score for the Hornets during the final round. The freshman had four birdies and four bogeys on Thursday to finish even. Hatton had her score bounce between 1-over and 1-under throughout the round before finishing with her seventh round of par or better this season. Hatton tied for 32
nd overall with rounds of 81-76-72-229.

Fellow freshman
Darla May Dela Torre was one shot back of Hatton in the overall standings and tied for 34
th place. On Thursday, Hatton had one birdie and four bogeys to finish with a 75 and provide the final score toward the team total.

Ella Kraft tied for 21
st overall after shooting 79-70-77-226. Kraft's final round was comprised of a birdie, four bogeys and a double bogey.

Sacramento State was also represented by
Florencia Dufey who was competing as an individual. Dufey totaled 75 in the third round and tied for 24
th overall. She opened her final round with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 13 and 14 before adding five bogeys over her final 16 holes.

Iowa State maintained its first-day lead to win the tournament by eight strokes. The Cyclones finished at 3-over par and were followed by UNLV (11-over). The remainder of the top five was made up of Santa Clara (22-over), Sacramento State (24-over) and Grand Canyon (25-over).

The Hornets will next compete at the Big Sky Championship in Litchfield Park, Ariz., on Apr. 14-16. The team has finished first at the tournament in four of the last five tournaments held.
