SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State women's golf team will continue its season at the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional in Arizona, it was announced today. The Hornets are seeded ninth among the 12 teams in the field for the three-day, three-round tournament which will be held at Superstition Golf and Country Club on May 5-7.

Sacramento State will be making its seventh NCAA Div. I postseason appearance and will be competing in Arizona for the first time in a regional. Playing in the climate is not new to the team, however, as the Hornets ended the year at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in Maricopa, Ariz., and the Big Sky Championship in Litchfield Park, Ariz. Sacramento State earned an automatic berth to the postseason following a convincing 15-shot victory.

The Hornets boast five all-Big Sky Conference selections on their roster led by first team selections
Sneha Sharan,
Caitlin Maurice and Darla Dela Torre. Sharan was named the Big Sky Player of the Year for the second straight season while Dela Torre claimed the Big Sky Freshman of the Year award. The team was led by Maurice at the Big Sky Championship as she finished in second place at 3-under par.

Sharan and Maurice head into the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional owning the top two single-season scoring averages in program history. Sharan averages 71.67 strokes per round while Maurice is at 71.87. The current single-season school record is held by Tess Blair with a mark of 72.80 in 2019-20.

The NCAA Gold Canyon Regional features seven teams from Power Four conferences and four teams in the top 20. Oregon, which is ranked fifth nationally, is the top seed while eighth-ranked and host Arizona State is second. SEC members Auburn (17
th nationally) and Mississippi State (20
th) round out the teams ranked in the top 20. The top five schools at the conclusion of the tournament will advance to the NCAA Championships.
