WALNUT/LONG BEACH, Calif. — A small number of Sacramento State track & field student-athletes completed a busy four-meet weekend but produced big results on Saturday at the Mt. SAC Relays and Beach Invitational.
 
The Hornets closed the Mt. SAC Relays with three school top 10 performances among their four entries. The day began with the 4x100 relay team of Jessi Barry, Ava Fitzgerald, Kassidy Schroth and Zoe Ewell running 45.25 to improve their second-place standing in school history. The time was .01 seconds faster than their previous best which occurred at the Hornet Invitational earlier this year.
 
Fitzgerald then returned to place 11^th overall at the meet in the 100-hurdles elite race. The junior crossed in 13.49 to take one-thousandth of a second off her PR and remain third in school history. Her time is the best by a Hornet since Nancy Searcy set the school record of 13.37 in 2007.
 
Miles Grant provided the third school top 10 by clearing 7-00.50 in the men's elite high jump. Grant placed eighth overall and fifth among collegiate athletes while crossing seven feel for the first time this outdoor season. His mark was one centimeter better than his previous high from a year ago and moves him into a tie for sixth place in program history.
 
The final mark from the Mt. SAC Relays came from Breija Stredic who placed 12^th overall in the 400-hurdles in 59.13 seconds.
 
The throwers completed the Beach Invitational by taking part in the shot put and discus. Jordan Bailey set a personal best in the women's discus with a best of 118-02. That throw was nearly 10-feet beyond her previous best of 108-04. The top mark for the women in the shot put belonged to Hope Gordon (43-11.75).
 
The Hornet men were guided by Emmanuel Akutey in the shot put with a best of 46-09.00. Kyle Smith threw 158-05 in the discus while Jaden Washington had an eight-foot PR with a throw of 141-04.
 
Sacramento State will next compete at the Causeway Classic Dual at UC Davis on Saturday, Apr. 26.
