LAHAINA, Hawaii — Florencia Dufey's 1-under par round of 71 propelled the Sacramento State women's golf team to a second-place finish at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on Tuesday at Ka'anapali Golf Resort in Maui.

The Hornets finished at 8-under par and secured their second second-place showing this spring. The tournament was won by Washington which ran away from the field at 19-under. Sacramento State was two strokes clear of 49
th-ranked Oregon State, which was third, and six strokes ahead of Denver (2-under). The Hornets also topped 47
th-ranked UC Davis by 24 strokes for their third win over the Aggies this spring.

Dufey enjoyed her best round of the tournament during the final round. The sophomore was 3-under through her first 10 holes with birdies on the par-5 sixth and ninth holes as well as the par-3 11
th. Her first bogey came on the par-4 13
th but was immediately followed by a birdie on the par-4 14
th. Dufey jumped to even par following bogeys on Nos. 15, 17 and 18 before closing her round with a birdie on the par-5 first. Dufey moved up 25 spots in the standings during the final round to tie for 46
th place at 74-77-71-222.

Ella Kraft ranked second on the team with an even-par round of 72. Kraft had a slow start to her round with bogeys on Nos. 4, 7 and 8 to place her at 3-over. She bounced back with a birdie on the par-5 ninth and was 2-under on the back nine with birdies on Nos. 11 and 17 to accompany seven pars. Kraft tied for 26
th overall with rounds of 75-70-72-217.

Sneha Sharan had the highest finish on the team, tying for sixth place with a 54-hole total of 69-70-73-212 for her fourth top-10 placement of the season. Sharan started the round with a bogey on the first hole and was never able to get back to even during the round. She had three birdies and three bogeys over the final 17 holes to end the day at 1-over.

Caitlin Maurice tied for ninth place at 70-70-73-213. Maurice jumped out to a quick start with birdies on Nos. 1 and 5. She added bogeys on Nos. 7, 12 and 13 to finish at 1-over.

Freshmen
Darla May Dela Torre and
Tova Hatton shot 75 and 76, respectively, on Tuesday. Dela Torre had four bogeys and a birdie in her round on the way to tying for 35
th place. Hatton, who was playing as an individual, had five bogeys and a birdie to tie for 20
th place overall.

Sacramento State will next play at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on Apr. 2-3 in Maricopa, Ariz.
