SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sneha Sharan, Caitlin Maurice and Ashley Koga are each in the top six and the Sacramento State women's golf team is tied for first place after the first two rounds of the Causeway Invitational on Monday at Del Paso CC. The Hornets finished the first day at 14-under par and are tied with Oregon State for the lead.

Sacramento State sat in second place following the first round as the Hornets were 3-under par as a team. Sharan was 4-under and found herself in second place in the individual standings. Sharan was never over par during her opening round as she posted six birdies and two bogeys. After starting on No. 8 with a pair of pars, she played the back nine at 3-under with birdies on Nos. 9, 13, 16 and 18 and a bogey on No. 11. Sharan opened the front nine with three pars and then dropped to 5-under after birdies on the par-5 fourth and par-4 sixth before ending with a bogey on the par-4 seventh.

Maurice was 3-under in the morning round to also land among the top 10 players in the field. Maurice was bogey free with birdies on the par-3 14th and fifth and the par-4 eighth.

The team total was completed by freshmen Tova Hatton (73) and Darla May Dela Torre (75). Hatton was 3-under through 10 holes before playing her final eighth holes at 4-over. Dela Torre had three birdies and six bogeys.
