Caitlin Maurice and
Ashley Koga are each in the top six and the Sacramento State women's golf team is tied for first place after the first two rounds of the Causeway Invitational on Monday at Del Paso CC. The Hornets finished the first day at 14-under par and are tied with Oregon State for the lead.

Sacramento State sat in second place following the first round as the Hornets were 3-under par as a team. Sharan was 4-under and found herself in second place in the individual standings. Sharan was never over par during her opening round as she posted six birdies and two bogeys. After starting on No. 8 with a pair of pars, she played the back nine at 3-under with birdies on Nos. 9, 13, 16 and 18 and a bogey on No. 11. Sharan opened the front nine with three pars and then dropped to 5-under after birdies on the par-5 fourth and par-4 sixth before ending with a bogey on the par-4 seventh.

Maurice was 3-under in the morning round to also land among the top 10 players in the field. Maurice was bogey free with birdies on the par-3 14
th and fifth and the par-4 eighth.

The team total was completed by freshmen
Tova Hatton (73) and
Darla May Dela Torre (75). Hatton was 3-under through 10 holes before playing her final eighth holes at 4-over. Dela Torre had three birdies and six bogeys.

Ashley Koga, who was playing as an individual, was also under par in the first round. Koga started on No. 16 and moved to 2-under with birdies on the par-4 third and par-5 fourth. She returned to even after bogeys on Nos. 7 and 8 but finished her round with birdies on the par-4 ninth and par-5 13
th along with five pars. Â

The Hornets were an amazing 11-under during the second round to tie for the second-lowest round in program history. The mark was one stroke off the record of 276 which came at the Evie Odom Invitational on Oct. 21, 2021 and matched the score from the 2021 Causeway Invitational.

Sharan and Maurice were each 4-under during the second round and sit in second and third place, respectively. Both players finished the round with four birdies without a bogey. Sharan was 8-under for the day and is five strokes back of Oregon State's Kyra Ly who shot 65-66-133. Maurice had sole possession of third place at 69-69-137.

Hatton and
Ella Kraft were also under par in the second round to complete the team's total. Hatton's round was highlighted by an eagle on the 487-yard, par-513
th hole. She also had four birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey and is in eighth place.

Kraft posted a 1-under par round of 71 with three birdies and two bogeys.
Â
Koga had a steady second round with one birdie and one bogey to accompany 16 pars. She is tied for sixth place overall.
