MOSCOW, Idaho — The Sacramento State track and field teams began the two-day Lauren McCluskey Memorial on Friday with the multi-events as well as select individual events at the Kibbie Dome.

The Hornets were represented by
Eliana Coburn in the pentathlon and
Jack Charlton and
Joshua Braun in the heptathlon. Coburn opened the competition with the fastest time in the 60-hurdles at 8.88 seconds. She then ranked third in the field in her next three events, clearing 5-05.00 in the high jump, having a shot put of 35-06.00 and a long jump of 17-06.75. Sitting in second place in the standings, Coburn started the 800 but dropped out of the race. She finished the pentathlon with 2,970 points in her four events.

Jack Charlton is third and
Joshua Braun ninth through the first day of the heptathlon. Charlton began the day with a 7.28 in the 60 and followed with a long jump of 20-08.50. He added a shot put of 38-04.75 before setting a personal best by clearing 6-00.50 in the high jump.

Braun had marks of 7.57 in the 60, 19-11.00 in the long jump, 32-00.25 in the shot put and 5-05.25 in the high jump. The pair are scheduled to complete the heptathlon with the 60-hurdles, pole vault and 1000.

In the main program of the meet, senior
Viviana Valenton finished first in the women's 1000 with a time of 2:59.42.
Kate Sanders was fifth n the race in 3:05.26.

Freshman
Tristian Campbell had the fastest time for the women in the in the 200. Campbell finished in 24.85.

In the field events,
Jessi Barry set a personal best with a long jump of 18-07.75 to finish in fourth place.
Mara Vonnahme also set a PR with a best of 18-01.75.

Nathan Rider had the top finish for the men's team by placing sixth in the 200 in 21.97. Other top eight finishes came from
Jake Slade who was seventh in the 1000 (2:35.59) and
Andrew Lehner who placed eighth in the pole vault (14-07.25).

Mason Mitchell and
Eli Kaltreider each finished in third place in their field events. Mitchell had a season-best of 23-02.75 in the long jump. Kaltreider cleared 6-08.25 which was just a quarter-inch off his best from last week in the high jump.

The meet will conclude on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
