SEASIDE, Calif. — Darla May Dela Torre is tied for 12th place following the first two rounds of The Molly Collegiate Invitational on Monday at Bayonet GC. The Sacramento State women's golf team is in ninth place with scores of 307-297-604.
Dela Torre shot a 1-under par round of 71 in the opening round with four birdies and three bogeys. Sneha Sharan ranked second on the team in the morning with a 74. Sharan had three birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey. However, that was the only other score on for the Hornets in the 70s in the opening round as the team counted 81s from Caitlin Maurice and Tova Hatton.
Sacramento State improved its team score by 10 strokes in the second round. Maurice guided the team with an even-par round of 72 comprised of five birdies and five bogeys. Dela Torre, Hatton and Ella Kraft each shot each 75 to complete the team total. Dela Torre had two birdies and five bogeys, Hatton had one birdie and four bogeys while Kraft had four birdies and six bogeys.
Overall, Dela Torre is tied for 12th place at 71-75-146. She is eight strokes off the lead which is shared by Oregon State's Kyra Ly, Stanford's Paula Martin Sampedro and San Francisco's Riana Mission who each totaled 138.
The Hornets were also represented by Florencia Dufey who is competing as an individual. Dufey shot 79-74-153 and is tied for 35th place with Maurice.
Stanford holds a commanding 16-stroke lead in the team standings. The Cardinal are 5-under par as a team and are followed by USF (11-over), Washington (13-over), California (14-over) and San Jose State (22-over) in the top five. Sacramento State finished the day at 28-over as a team.
The third round will have a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The Hornets will be paired with Nevada and Oregon State on holes Nos. 9-12.
