WOLCOTT, Colo. — The Sacramento State women's golf team finished in fourth place at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic on Wednesday. The Hornets were led by
Caitlin Maurice who placed third with scores of 65-70-73-208.

Maurice's total set her career best and is tied for fourth-lowest in school history. On Wednesday, she started play with seven consecutive pars before a bogey on No. 8 and a birdie on No. 9. She remained even through 12 holes but moved to 1-over with a bogey on the par-4 13
th. Maurice dropped back below par with birdies on the par-4 16
th and par-3 17
th but had a double bogey on the par-5 18
th to end the day at 1-under. Overall, she was 8-under for the three-round tournament, leaving her four shots off the pace of Eastern Michigan's Savannah de Bock and one back of Pepperdine's Lauren Gomez. Maurice's three-round score of 65-70-73-208 beat her previous best by three strokes and her third-place finish was her seventh top-five showing as a Hornet.

Spurred by its 11-under par second round, Kansas won the team title at 15-under. Boise State and Pepperdine tied for second place at 8-under while Sacramento State (2-under) and Denver (3-over) completed the top five in the 16-team field.

The lowest round on Wednesday for the Hornets belonged to freshman
Darla May Dela Torre who shot 70. Dela Torre had two birdies and a bogey on the front nine and played the back half of the course at 1-under with three birdies and two bogeys. Competing in her first collegiate tournament, Dela Torre tied for 18
th place with a total of 74-72-70-216 to finish even.

Sneha Sharan carded a round of 73 in the final round. Sharan started on the second hole and had birdies on Nos. 4 and 5 to get to 2-under. She found herself even through eighth holes but birdied the par-3 10
th to stand at 1-under at the midway point of her round. Another birdie on the par-5 15
th took her to 2-under before bogeys on three of her final four holes.

Ella Kraft and
Florencia Dufey each shot 76 in the third round to complete the lineup. Kraft had three birdies, three pars and a pair of double bogeys. Dufey had an eagle, four birdies, four bogeys and three doubles.

Freshman
Tova Hatton debuted in the tournament as an individual and tied for 29
th overall. Hatton was 2-over on Wednesday with five birdies, three bogeys and two double bogeys.

Sacramento State will jump right back into action on Monday, Sept. 30, at the Molly Collegiate at Bayonet and Black Horse in Seaside, Calif.
